Current inspiration: Minimalist interior design blogs

It’s been a year since I’ve shared this post about taking things slowly when it comes to furnishing our new home and it turned out to be a fairly accurate prediction. While we’ve made a lot of progress, building a home basically from scratch is not an easy thing to do and we still have a long way to go until I can say it’s finally finished (provided there is such a thing as a totally finished home).

I’ve learned so much about interior decorating during this project and I’m definitely gonna share all my newly-acquired wisdom in future posts, but for now, let me give a shout-out to some awesome content creators whose work have helped me tremendously in the last year. If you share my love for minimal interiors, check out the following blogs: these are my main go-to sources for minimalist interior design inspiration.

Coco Lapine Design

I frequently share photos from this blog, as it’s full of beautiful Scandinavian style interiors. It’s curated by Sarah, a Belgian designer living in Munich – she shares snippets from her own home, minimal apartment tours, vintage and modern design objects, and the latest collections of leading Scandinavian brands. She has a great eye for details, and always curates amazing photos.

April and May

April and May is an award-winning interior blog created by a team of talented interior designers and stylists. They share beautiful Scandinavian interiors and inspiring slow living photo series. I particularly love their design and art posts, as well as their visual journal on Instagram.

Curate & Display

Curate & Display is the blog of Tiffany, a freelance interior stylist and self-described aspiring minimalist. Her aesthetic is Nordic style with a muted color palette and a focus on clean lines and simple materials. Besides the inspiring interior shots, she shares home decorating and organizing ideas as well, with lots of useful styling tips. I also loved her series of moving into and redecorating an early Edwardian terraced home, mixing contemporary minimal style with the original features. It was such an interesting process and reassured me that it’s OK to take things slowly.

Design Hunter

Design Hunter has the perfect combination of stunning contemporary minimal interiors, design objects, beautiful photos, and slow living/minimalism-related lifestyle posts. Once again, I loved the more personal stories on how Helen, the creator behind the blog, redecorated and redesigned her house – it’s always so interesting to read about the design process of the true professionals (interior designers and stylists). And the “10 of the best” series always curates stylish home accessories and décor objects.

Hannah Trickett

Hannah is a British (half Danish) creative living in Copenhagen. As she has a degree in decorative arts, she really has an appreciation for beautiful craftsmanship, materials, and quality design. I love the art and design objects she curates (see the “new designs” posts) and she has stunning original photos. I also appreciate that she is exploring sustainability issues in interior design, from sustainably made home textiles and ceramics to eco-friendly household products and home goods.

Elisabeth Heier

Elisabeth Heier is a visual storyteller, creative advisor and content creator from Oslo. On her blog, she shares her favorite design finds, beautiful minimal interiors, but also her travel diaries, home snippets, and visual journals of everyday moments. She’s probably my favorite source of inspiration for interior photography; she has such a great eye for styling and capturing the small details.
