Fall is hands down my favorite style season ever. It’s versatile, inspires creativity, and offers a nice balance between chic edgy outfits and coziness. The opportunities are just endless: more items, fabrics, silhouettes, colors, and layering opportunities to choose from. This is the season where we can go for sneakers, pumps, or ankle boots, where silk and wool can still work together, where summer dresses can still be used layered under a sweater or leather jacket.
It’s just perfect. And the best season for minimalist style as well.
I can’t wait to finally get back into my standard uniform of blazers, long-sleeved shirts, leather jackets, skinny jeans, long cardigans, chunky knits, loafers, and ankle boots.
Each season I like to do a kind of vision board, as well as a wishlist for things I need or would like to buy. I don’t necessarily buy them at once, but I like to have a list to keep my purchases in line. I haven’t done my fall/winter list yet, I’m still in the thinking, inspiration gathering phase. I don’t care for trends to be honest, and I have no idea how something makes it to my seasonal vision, but currently, these are the styles that intrigue me the most, and the bloggers I can always count on for some major inspiration.
Fall minimalist fashion favorites
Summer-to-fall style
I really hope this year we get beautiful transitional fall weather with a nice balance between crisp mornings and sunny afternoons and thus the opportunity for layering, instead of a hot, humid September followed by freezing cold and rains immediately (unfortunately, it happened before). Ideally, we can delay packing up our summer wardrobes and instead transition them into fall style with layering.
A long blazer, denim or leather jacket over a summer dress or a shirt and light summer pants are some of my favorite looks for early fall – please weather, hear my wishes.
Contrasting textures
There’s something very chic about playing with textures, especially pairing contrasts like silk/lace and knits or leather. It’s like pairing the effortless, light, feminine style of summer with the edgier styles elements of fall. My favorite fall minimalist fashion picks: a chunky cardigan or even sweater thrown over a silk dress, lace details peeking out under wool or cotton – dressing them down with sneakers or heavier boots or going for a more elegant look with heels or loafers.

Burgundy and navy
Usually black, white, gray and their many shades are the founding blocks of my color palette. Each season, however, I like throwing in some colors –pastels or the occasional wine color for summer, and richer colors for the colder season.
This year I really like burgundy and navy hues (as much as I detest blue, navy just somehow passes the test), with maybe some olives or mustard? We’ll see what I can find.
Long vest
Or sleeveless coat/blazer, I’m not sure about the exact terminology, but this is definitely a style for fall. If the weather permits, you can wear it on its own, or layer it with a thin sweater or shirt, or even with a leather jacket. Throw on a belt for an edgier look.

I’m not too big into fashion or trends. The contrasting texture is a lot more appealing to me. Love the sweater on that silk.
Personal style above trends!:) I love the contrasting textures as well.
So much good fashion inspo in this post. I totally agree, fall/winter is my fav fashion season by far as well. We’re heading into spring/summer in Melbourne at the moment and I’m like argh, there goes all my nice winter outfits!

Thank you! I’m sorry we’re not in sync when it comes to the seasons:) I get you, I couldn’t wait for summer to be over, though harsh winters (that we usually have around here) do not exactly work in favor of good fashion either!
This was great fall fashion inspiration! Fall and winter are my two favorite seasons for clothing since it can be so simple and comfortable to put together an outfit. Burgundy and navy are great colors to wear this season. I also like to wear some dark greens and the occasional red too. The oversized blazer look is one I don’t think I’ll stop loving any time soon. And I’m excited to see what items are on your wishlist for fall/winter! x

Thank you!! Wool and silk are my new favorites as well – there’s something about their contrast that is indeed very feminine, but edgy at the same time.
