Summertime is my fashion hell.
9 out of 10 times, I’m not even remotely inclined to take any kind of style factor into consideration when dressing up. The goal is simply survival.
Is it just me?
I live for fall and spring weather and layering. Coats, knits, and leather. Summer dresses? Not so much.
It’s a bad and lazy attitude though. So I rounded up all the inspiration I could find to make myself get out more of my summer comfort zone and uniform.
This is my interpretation of summer minimalist fashion.
All white
For me, white is the ultimate summer color. An all white outfit – even better. It’s simple, chic, and fresh at the same time. The epitome of minimalist summer fashion.
Sometimes all you need is a dress
Definitely no need to overcomplicate. A simple dress is all we need and with the right fit and style, it’s a unique outfit in itself.
A hat is your best friend
The best thing you can do in the summer is don a hat. A. It protects your face and head from the heat and sun. B. It’s very stylish. Hats are not for hiding – they demand attention and confidence. Be brave and go for it.
Show some skin
No, this doesn’t mean we should just let everything hang out. Interesting cutouts and an exposed back are a great way to show some skin in a unique and classy way.
Denim shorts – the most versatile summer piece
My ultimate minimalist summer fashion staple. You can go casual with trainers and a top, city chic with a striped shirt and a hat, or dressy with a silk shirt and heels. The styling opportunities are endless.
All eyes on the shoes
With dresses and shorts replacing jeans and pants, more attention will be on the shoes. You can take risks with this one and elevate a simple minimalist outfit with some statement shoes. That doesn’t necessarily mean extra high heels – flats with interesting cutouts or lower block heels can be just as attention-grabbing. There’s no way I’m wearing 4-inch shoes by the pool or during the day in 35 degree weather in the city.
What are your favorite summer pieces?
